Towards Accountability: Designing an Independent Investigative Mechanism for Afghanistan

We are pleased to organize an important panel together with our partners on the margins of the 59th Session of the UN Human Rights Council titled:
“From Call to Action: Designing the Right Investigative Mechanism for Afghanistan.” 17th June 2025 – 10:00 to 11:00 hrs CET, Palais des Nations, Geneva.

In the run up to the Council’s annual resolution on Afghanistan in September, this timely event brings experts to highlight obstacles, expertly discuss the issues around the scope and jurisdiction, present models, and urge the Council members to take action on the recommendation for the creation of an independent investigative mechanism to support efforts towards accountability for human rights violations and abuses in Afghanistan.
